After arriving in Bangkok in the early hours this morning, I set out to see the Grand Palace (the royal residence and offices established in 1782) and Wat Pho and Wat Arun, both temples along the Chao Phraya River. All 3 of these sites are filled with colorful and ornate designs, including the stupa above at Wat Pho, which contains the ashes of a former Thai king.
